Severely outdated, not worth the money.

Good description and explanation of different aspects of prosthetics and orthotics.

I really like this book, it is short but not to short and gives you what you need to know. I think it will be a great reference book when I get into practice.

I like this book as it is a great introduction to the sciences of orthotics & prosthetics (O&P). It is a fairly easy read yet covers most essential elements of O&P devices and applications in rehabilitation. Chapter 2 is a very useful and succinct introduction to biomechanics as it relates to O&P. I use this text as required readings for DPT and PTA classes that I teach and encourage other professors interested in O&P sciences to use it as a reference. I feel that it covers most of the foundational concepts of O&P and it seems to help provide students with the practical knowledge of what they will need in practice.O&P students may find the case study approach of the text useful, but it is not as in-depth as texts like Orthotics and Prosthetics in Rehabilitation, 2e which is an excellent text.Practicing ortho-prosthetists will appreciate the section on "Teaching Prosthetic Control" in chapter 7. This makes a good reference for your PT colleagues.Overall a good book, well illustrated, authors have command of the subject material, and the editors only missed two instances of the dreaded so-called word "componentry". But then...I call it O&P and not P&O.

About the Author
Henry W. Stoll is professor emeritus of mechanical engineering at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois. He has extensive industrial experience in mechanical engineering design and design for manufacture and consults widely with industry. Before retiring from full-time teaching in 2008, Professor Stoll taught product design, mechanical systems design, and manufacturing for many years. Dr. Stoll is the author of two books and several book chapters on design for manufacture and structured design methods. He has presented more than 100 on-site design for manufacture, quality by design, and design for everything workshops to industry.

2. G I Bidwell's How to Use the Repertory.

Bidwell's intention was to make the Repertory more accessible to students and budding practioners alike. In this he has succeeded admirably.

His early chapters contain a review of the Organon which is very useful in itself.

The main part of the work is an analysis of forty key remedies in terms of twenty-two major rubrics, relating these back to the repertory. The students who diligently work through these chapters will find themselves in possession of a body of knowledge that will enable them to confidently begin their practice.

3. J T Kent's analysis lectures on the forty remedies chosen by Bidwell.

These lectures are extracted from Kent's Lectures on Homeopathic Materia Medica. They are extensive and detailed. They should be used as an adjunct to the study plan outlined in How to Use the Repertory, to provide a background for the more focused study recommended by Bidwell.
