Reproduction folding stocks are shown and points of difference are identified so the collector will not be fooled by fakes.

The book is divided into six chapters and ten appendices. Each chapter describes a major subgroup of the M1 Carbine: receiver, barrel, trigger assembly, and stock.

About the Author
Craig Riesch is a well-known collector and scholar of U.S. military small arms. He is the author of U.S. M1 Carbines, Wartime Production and was the coauthor of The .45-70 Springfield and The M1 Garand, 1936 to 1957. He also edited The American Krag Rifle and Carbine and Swiss Magazine Loading Rifles, 1869 to 1958, all in the For Collectors Only series plus The AK-47 and AK-74 Kalashnikov Rifles in the Shooter s and Collector s series. Both series are guides to antique and collectible modern firearms identification and verification. Mr. Riesch has spent a great deal of time studying U.S. military firearms and is consulted by many collectors for authentication of military and civilian arms. He has been a collector himself for over forty years. Mr. Riesch is a U.S. Army combat veteran and served in Vietnam during the period of the Tet Offensive. He worked for 33 years as a product operations manager for a major defense company.

While comprehensive enough to adequately cover all the major problems that an industry geomechanicist is likely to encounter, it provides sufficient amount of detail for the reader to be able to study scientific literature in Geomechanics independently. All the key concepts and mathematical models are illustrated on a wide variety of case studies, and are presented in a form that allows a straightforward numerical implementation. Some knowledge of Mechanics of Continua and Rock Physics is probably a prerequisite. I would highly recommend this book to any serious student of Geomechanics.

The book contains all that one needs to know about reservoir geomechanics. The concepts and technical terms used in the book are easy to understand and readily applicable to solving subsurface problems. In addition, it contains valid field examples from around the world to demonstrate concepts. I truly enjoyed reading and learning from the book. I recommend it to all professionals in the geosciences interested in knowing or learning more about the mechanics of subsurface reservoirs. It's a great and truly outstanding book.

One of the most complete books on Reservoir Geomechanics!! Unfortunately there was no extensive treatment of Earth-Quake focal mechanisms, a subject Mark Zoback has much knowledge of. At present the production of the Groningen gasfields and the safety of the Dutch people living there depends on the controllability of this subject, I will spend my remaining professional career on this subject. I bought this because I was led to believe that this was be an insanely awesome way to start keeping track of things that I wanted to get done with a touch of humor. Now, I will say that I love the title on the cover, but this thing is really just a cheap, thin writing journal that you'd expect for children. There's no page numbers, no to-do lists, etc. It's just a word document with lines printed in a book. You're honestly better off making your own organizer and slapping this label on it.
